Elon Musk is the current owner of Twitter and has been acting as CEO, making a lot of controversial decisions on how the site runs and how to treat employees. But it looks like Musk may be stepping down from his role as CEO after seeing the results of a poll on the social media platform.
Twitter has been the subject of controversy over the last few months after Musk invested in the platform. Since then, he has made verification badges available to anyone who pays, banned people for impersonating him, unbanned controversial users like Andrew Tate, and fired an abundance of employees.
The decisions have left the userbase conflicted, with some people feeling like Musk was killing Twitter while others felt it was going in the right direction. As the debates and drama continued, Musk decided to create a Twitter poll that asked Twitter users if he should step down as the head of Twitter. Musk promised that he would “abide by the results.”
Over 17.5 million people voted in the poll. Turns out, 57.5% of them wanted Musk to step down.
It’s now been a day and Musk hasn’t made any action to leave Twitter. It’s unclear if Musk will go through with his promise of going along with the poll results or if he has something else up his sleeve.
Many have wondered if Musk knew this would be the outcome and already had a CEO chosen to replace him. But Musk shot down some of these speculations, claiming that “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive.”
Musk then put out an ominous tweet that seemingly condemned people for wanting him gone.
For now, the future of Twitter has remained as confusing as ever.
