Rumors of G2 Esports’ demise were greatly exaggerated. Many thought that the prominent gaming organization would fall by the wayside. The situation with former CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiagos, the failure to secure a partnered Valorant Champions Tour slot, and the subsequent release of its roster could have easily been the death knell for G2 Esports.
Instead of taking a backseat, G2 kept its Valorant Game Changers team going strong. G2 Gozen played out of their minds throughout 2022 and finished with a Game Changers Championship victory. And despite not being a part of the VCT, G2 has formed a squad for the Ascension league that consists of former Version1 and Sentinels stars.
G2 Esports reveals its new Valorant roster
Like many Valorant teams have done, G2 announced its roster through a scripted video. It started with the image of a tombstone to signify the org’s apparent death. Pallbearers then carried a coffin into a cathedral.
The body in the coffin sat up, removed his mask, and revealed his true self. The priest overseeing the funeral proceedings followed suit. And with that, G2 Esports announced they are not going anywhere when it comes to Valorant.
The video ended by revealing the full roster of five and its coach:

Needing no introduction are ShahZaM and dapr. The two ex-Sentinels players have been superstars since they made the switch from CS:GO to Valorant. They led the team to multiple championships in NA and a championship at the first ever international Valorant LAN, Masters Reykjavik 2021.
Joining them are wippie, penny, and Immi, all of Version1 fame. Rounding out the team is OXY, a former Moon Raccoons player who is getting his first taste of a professional organization. Together, this Valorant roster looks dangerous and with the backing of G2 Esports, they may just be a favorite going into 2023’s Ascension format.
