Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev has been declared as the best player CS:GO player of the decade! S1mple won the award after a panel of 75 top CS:GO players voted for the person who achieved the most in the past 10 years. The Ukrainian player also received the award just before the semifinals of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio CS:GO Major Championship.
S1mple wins best player of the decade
The player has inspired players since the start of his professional esports career. He kicked that journey off when he was just 16 years old as a rifler for the LAN Dodgers. When 2014 came along, he had major success at DreamHack Winter. That year, s1mple and his team claimed victory over Fnatic, which was one of the top CS:GO teams of that time.
S1mple joined up with other teams later. These included ones like HellRaisers and Team Liquid. In 2016, s1mple joined Natus Vincere and continued to showcase his skills in the competitive CS:GO scene.
Alongside his teammates in Natus Vincere, s1mple won the Intel Grand Slam Season 3, earning $1,000,0000 together as the grand prize. His team also did well in ESL One New York 2016, IEM Cologne 2021 and PGL Stockholm Major 2021.
Of course, s1mple has won numerous MVP titles throughout the years as well. This Player of the Decade Award, introduced by ESL earlier this year, adds to his list of achievements and helps sum up what he’s accomplished in CS:GO.
l feel good about getting the award, although the Major trophy was important for me this time. And I still think that there is one player that deserved this award as much as I did – dev1ce. I will try my best to achieve the same results as he did. There’s no limit to perfection.

S1mple about dev1ce in the CS:GO scene
“I feel good about getting the award, although the Major trophy was important for me this time,” s1mple said. “And I still think that there is one player that deserved this award as much as I did – dev1ce. I will try my best to achieve the same results as he did. There’s no limit to perfection.”
Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz is another influential player in the CS:GO scene. He’s know for getting the most MVP titles for CS:GO Major events. Similar to s1mple, dev1ce had a significant impact on the competitive scene. He’s represented teams such as Ninjas in Pyjamas and Astralis. The player’s achievements, coupled with his involvement with the community earned him the runner-up spot in the CS:GO vote.
The IEM Rio Major 2022 action continues
While fans and supporters celebrate both s1mple and dev1ce, they can also look forward to the ongoing IEM Rio Major 2022 action. On November 13th, the grand finals will feature the top two teams duking it out for the lion’s share of a $1,250,000 total prize pool alongside the Major Championship title.
