After five years of competing on Gen.G, superstar AD Carry Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk officially departs the organization by mutual agreement. The news broke this morning when Gen.G posted an official goodbye video on their Twitter page, celebrating his success with half a decade put into Gen.G.

[Farewell, @RulereluR]

Though today marks the start of his new chapter, he will always have our support & appreciation.

Ruler has spent the majority of his career on Gen.G after joining the organization in 2018. Ruler was previously part of the Samsung Galaxy roster that won the 2017 League of Legends World Championship. This roster would then be acquired by KSV Esports which then later turned into Gen.G.

Ruler finally achieved his goal of winning an LCK title when his side lifted the trophy in the summer split. Gen.G had a successful 2022 domestically with a top-two finish in spring, followed by a dominant summer split ending in success. Unfortunately for Gen.G they did not perform as well at Worlds, the tournament favorites fell to the Cinderella side in DRX 3-1 in the semi-final.

After crashing out in the semi-finals two years in a row, it seems Ruler is looking for a new challenge. He has accomplished everything he has wanted to achieve thus far, but being arguably the best AD Carry in the world means the expectation is on Ruler to achieve more.

Gen.G did not want to stand in the way of Ruler’s wish to seek a new challenge. The organization even through in a nice departing touch, stating Ruler’s number #1 jersey will be retired. This honor is frequent amongst sports teams after a legend departs.

In honor of “Ruler” Jae Hyeok Park’s legacy, his number (#1) will be retired within the Gen.G LoL team.
