God of War Ragnarok Developer 'Strongly' Encourages Players to Download the Day 1 Patch

Santa Monica Studio has released the day one patch for God of War Ragnarok, and the developer “strongly encourages” players to download it ahead of the full game’s release tomorrow, November 9.

The patch, detailed on Santa Monica Studio’s website, includes nearly 200 fixes to Ragnarok, including updates to gameplay, quests, cinematics, dialogue, performance, UI, and more. Notable fixes include improvements to companion behavior and the in-game compass, “adjustments to dialog timing to make conversations sound more natural,” a more stable frame rate, reduced instances of crashing, and “additional tuning and coverage for DualSense controller haptics” on PS5. A spoiler-free version of the day one patch notes is available in IGN’s God of War Ragnarok guide.

IGN’s Simon Cardy deemed God of War Ragnarok a masterpiece in his 10/10 review. “God of War Ragnarok melds action and adventure together to create a new, unforgettable Norse saga,” he wrote. “Impeccable writing, pitch-perfect performances, knockout action – it’s a complete work of art from top to bottom.”
