The new era of Valorant skins arrives with the 2022 Ion skin set

If there is one thing Riot Games has excelled at with Valorant, it is the amazing skins available to players. The FPS has some of the best weapon skins in all of gaming. Each day, players flock to their shop to check out the newest bundle and see what individual items are for sale. That won’t change in the slightest with the announcement of the 2022 Ion skin set. These new Ion skins are for the Vandal, Ares, Spectre, Frenzy and a Karambit Melee, all with multiple variants to unlock.

The brand new skin set will go live alongside the latest Valorant Act. Episode 5 Act 3 brings the next Controller Agent, Harbor, into the game along with a fresh Battlepass full of rewards. The 2022 Ion skin set seems like the cherry on top. The new Act is going to kick off with a bang on October 18, 2022.

The reveal video shared by Valorant’s official Twitter and uploaded to the game’s YouTube channel showcased all of the weapons in action. A similar finisher to the first set was seen, but the biggest difference is that the 2022 Ion skin set will have color variants.

Differences between Ion 1.0 and Ion 2.0

Leaks dubbed the new line of skins as “Ion 2.0” prior to the official name reveal. This isn’t just an upgrade to the weapons from the first Ion release on November 10, 2020. A new slate of weapons will get the Ion makeover.

Valorant treated players to the Sheriff, Bucky, Phantom, Operator and Energy Sword the first time around. The 2022 Ion skin set has a Vandal, Area, Spectre, Frenzy and Karambit Melee weapon. The first line also did not have any variations available to unlock with Radianite.

The 2022 Ion skins look to have the base white color and variants of yellow-orange, blue and green. Those interested in purchasing the new set will need to spend their precious Valorant points and then use the Radianite most commonly earned in the Battlepass for the upgrades. This includes any VFX, animations and finishing moves.

Ion 2.0 price for bundle and individual items

The official Ion 2.0 price for the whole bundle or its individual items is unknown at this time. Pricing information will be updated here when the skins go live on October 18. If you compare them to the original Ion set, the Premium bundle was 7100 Valorant Points. That’s roughly equal to $74.59 USD. Expect the bundle to be around that price when it launches.
