The Guard has joined the Apex Games with a team of certified legends. With their recent announcement, they’ve signed 3 well known Apex players, Beau “RamBeau” Sheidy, Keon “Keoon” Berghout and Cole “Rkn” Prommel. The Guard is a well known organization owned by Kroenke Sports, who has divisions in both esports and traditional sports. Their move into Apex is not the biggest surprise, but their players have all shown that they are at the top of their game.
A brief history of The Guard
The Guard is quite the esteemed organization. Owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, who also own the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, LA Gladiators of OWL and the LA Guerillas of the CDL. The organization is nothing to scoff at as their Valorant Team topped the VCT 2022 NA Stage 1 Challengers and came second in the NA Last Chance Qualifies. Unfortunately, The Guard was not one of the partnered teams in Valorant, so the organization has moved to other games, like Apex Legends.
The squad of Apex Legends
The Guard’s Apex team is composed of seasoned players. Rambeau, Rik and Keon all have played at the top level of Apex and shown that they are top contenders. Rkn is known from his time on Torrent as the backbone of the team with his plays as Crypto. The second member of The Guard is the controller player Keon. The ranked grinder won both Twitch Rivals #4 and Nerdstreet Apex Bash and finished third place at the Nickmercs Gauntlet. Despite being relatively new to competitive Apex, Keoon’s Valkyrie is a threat to all lobbies. Esports.gg got a chance to sit down with Rkn at the ALGS championships back in 2022 and his time on Torrent.
Last but not least is arguably Apex’s most photogenic player, Beau “Rambeau” Sheidy, who also played with Rkn on Torrent. Although Rambeau played well on Torrent, he truly got to shine during the ALGS 2022 Championships. Substituting for Max-Strafe at the last minute, Rambeau played phenominal Apex and lead his team to fifth place.
Rambeau: “I’m a controller player. So just give me a gun.”
Rambeau has stood in for GMT, and has helped them to within 8 games of finals. He only found out he was playing moments before they started.
With ALGS year 3 right around the corner the Apex community has high expectations for The Guard. With seasoned players like Rkn and Rambeau and a ranked grinder like Keoon, they are more than prepared. You can check out The Guard here.
