The M4 may be one of the most versatile Assault Rifles in MW2. It’s right up there with the best weapons to use.
The M4 is a Call of Duty staple and has been used in almost every Call of Duty title. It was most recently seen as the XM4 in Cold War.
It skipped the year of Vanguard but is now back in MW2. The weapon is back with a vengeance as it appears to be one of the best guns in the game.
How to unlock the M4
The M4 is the base weapon that you will start your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 journey with.
It is a free unlock from Level 1 and is there for every single player to use in MW2 multiplayer from the off. There is no convoluted set of steps you need to go through to get your hands on the M4.
The best builds for the M4 in MW2
The way that attachments are unlocked in MW2 makes deciding what to put on a gun quite the task. There are so many different attachments to chose from.
Players can use 40 different optic attachments on the gun.
Weapon tuning will also be available on attachments. This kicks in when you have levelled your gun up to the max rank. In this case, that level cap is 20.
Instead of the 10 attachments that you could put on your gun in Vangaurd, you can now only use five. That makes deciding what is important to have on your weapon all the more important.
The best build for the TAQ-56 (Scar) in MW2
The TAQ-56 is one of the best Assault Rifles in MW2 but what’s the best setup for it?
Best M4 with only M4 attachments
If you are using the M4 to get the gold camo on the gun right from the off then you will only have attachments to use that are unlocked in the first 20 levels of the M4 tree.
The attachments:
Rear Grip: XTEN GripStock: Corio Precio FactoryOptic: Cronen Mini Red DotLaser: 1MW Laser BoxBarrel: Hightower 20″ Barrel
This version is totally unlockable only by levelling up the M4 itself. There is no need to worry about the extremely confusing attachment system. This build will give you as much speed and accuracy as possible without having to do too much grinding.
The best M4 build with all attachments
In the new system, when players unlock a new attachment, they are universal to that tree. The M4, being the base of one of the biggest trees in the game, has a whole host of attachments to choose from.
This build is one of the best out there, offering versatility and stopping power from all distances, especially in that mid-to-long-range gunfight zone. The M4, especially in this build, is one of the most all-round guns in the game.
The attachments:
Rear Grip: Phantom GripStock: Demo Precision Elite FactoryOptic: Cronen Mini ProBarrel: Hightower 20″ BarrelMuzzle: Komodo Heavy
This is the premium M4 build that will give you the peak performance in the weapon.
The only alteration you may find beneficial is switching out the optic for the Schlager Peq Box IV laser attachment. That’s how pro player James “Clayster” Eubanks has been using his M4 to start the game.
