VALORANT star Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan claims he had no idea that Sentinels was planning to drop him going into VALORANT Champions Tour 2023.
On October 4th, Dot Esports reported that it was informed by a source that Sentinels was in the midst of changing up its VALORANT roster. This allegedly included singing XSET in-game leader Rory “Dephh” Jackson and his teammate Zachary “zekken” Patrone. The source also claimed that this meant ShahZaM was being removed from his role as in-game leader when his contract runs out at the end of 2022.
What made this leak all the more shocking was that ShahZam allegedly had no idea this was coming.
ShahZaM reacts to Sentinels roster leak on Twitch
While streaming VALORANT on Twitch, ShahZaM caught wind of the article. After a big sigh, ShahZaM said: “Well, guys… Looks like an article just went out…”
ShahZaM then shook his head as he read the article.
“You want to know the best part? I just found out with you guys,” ShahZaM said.
ShahZaM has been with Sentinels for three years, starting back when the team was first formed in 2020. He was an impactful part of the squad when Sentinels won North American tournaments in 2020 and 2021, as well as becoming the first to win an international LAN event, VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters Reykjavik.
This news has come as a surprise to the VALORANT community—and ShahZaM himself.
There is no official comment from Sentinels about the leaked roster changes. It’s not clear when these moves will take place (or even if they will).
