The release of Modern Warfare 2 includes two different versions of the game. The Standard Edition and the Vault Edition. The Vault Edition is the premium version of the game that comes with exclusive content that you can only get for owning that version of the game. But is the MW2 Vault edition worth it?

What does the Vault Edition of MW2 include?
Infinity Ward refer to the Vault Edition of MW2 as the “highest-tier” version of the game. It has the MSRP of $99.99 (or regional equivalent). It’s priced at $30 more than the regular version of the game. Pre-ordering the Vault Edition of the game gets you even more exclusive benefits.
All of the benefits for pre-ordering the Vault Edition of MW2:
Season 1 Battle Pass50 tier skipsRed Team 141 Operator PackFJX Cinder Weapon VaultKhaled Al-Asad Bundle (Available in Vanguard and Warzone)Final Judgement Bundle (Available in Cold War and Warzone)Ghost Legacy Pack (Available in Modern Warfare [2019] and Warzone)
What do those bonuses mean?
Alongside the Battle pass and the tier skips, the Red Team 141 Operator pack includes four operators to use from the launch of the game. These operators are: Ghost, Farah, Price and Soap. Each of them feature a unique skin that stylizes them like the iconic Modern Warfare character, Ghost.
The FJX Cinder Weapon Vault was available to use in the Beta of Modern Warfare 2. It will be given to players who have the Vault Edition at the start of the full game.

A weapon vault is like a blueprint in previous Call of Duty titles. The only difference is that the camo and style will be applied to every single attachment that can go on that weapon.
Alongside the bonuses for the release of Modern Warfare 2, there are also extras on offer for Modern Warfare (2019), Cold War and Vanguard.
The Ghost Legacy pack unlocks 20+ free items in MW2019. That includes 12 different Ghost skins and 10 assault rifle blueprints. The Final Judgement bundle is available in Cold War. It includes a skin, blueprint, calling card, emblem, reticle and sticker.
Finally, the Khaled Al-Asad bundle is also included for Vanguard. It features Al-Asad’s operator and three operator quips.
Much like the standard version of the game, the Vault Edition also grants you early access to the MW2 campaign.
Is it worth it?
In short, yes!
The battle pass for Modern Warfare 2 will be available for 1000 CoD points, which is priced at $9.99. Each tier skip on the battle pass also costs 150 CoD points normally. That would mean you’d need 7500 of them to achieve 50 tier skips as you get from the Vault Edition. The cheapest you could buy 7500 CoD points for is $61.97.

That, along with all of the added extras that you can secure yourself means that it is a sure-fire way to kick-start the Modern Warfare 2 experience. The Cinder Weapon Vault in particular is an incredibly cool addition to this.
Can I upgrade to the Vault Edition?
If you have already pre-ordered the base game of Modern Warfare 2, you can still get your hands on the Vault Edition. On Battle.net, it is as simple as purchasing the add-on to the game through the store. That upgrade can also be bought on Steam if you have pre-ordered through Valve’s platform.

It’s a bit more difficult to upgrade your pre-order through console. In order to grab your upgrade on Xbox or PlayStation consoles, you’ll have to first cancel your original pre-order. Then it’s the simple process of re-ordering the game but the Vault Edition instead.
