It’s spooky season in Fortnite Battle Royale, which means it’s time for Fortnitemares 2022. This morning, the annual Halloween-themed event was unveiled by Epic Games for all to enjoy. This year’s update includes new gameplay elements, quests, free rewards, and more.

DJ Lyka turns players into wolf monsters with unique abilities
Turning into a wolf monster
The update went live early this morning. Firstly, Fortnitemares 2022 introduces DJ Lyka—a musical artist and character who can turn players into wolf-like monsters. Located at the Reality Tree and other spots—you’ll find Alteration Alters. Once finding the Alteration Alters, you can perform a Ritual Emote to gain Howler Claws.
Here are some of the perks of having Howler Claws during Fortnitemares 2022:
Wolfscent Ability — Players can howl to activate and gain tracking vision to find enemies nearby. You can hear an audible heartbeat if an opponent is on your trail. Slash & Air Slash Ability — Utilize your claws to perform a four-hit combo and the double-jump air slash attack.
Zero Build Horde Rush returns for Fortnitemares 2022
Zero Build Horde Rush
Epic Games has brought Horde Rush back for Fortnitemares 2022. This limited-time mode (LTM) pits a team of players against the Cube Monster enemies. Ultimately, the goal is to loot, eliminate the enemies to earn points, and survive as many waves of Cube Monsters as possible. However, the trick this year is the inclusion of Zero Build mode.
Horde Rush might be a bit more challenging without the building capability. In any case, this game mode will be available until November 15. Furthermore, be sure to watch for Horde Rush-specific quests during Fortnitemares 2022.
Fortnitemares 2022 quests & rewards
You can get your hands on exclusive Fortnitemares 2022 in-game cosmetics by completing challenges. As usual with most Fortnite events, these quests will unlock daily. Upon completion, you’ll move closer to unlocking the Glider, Back Bling, and Pickaxe displayed above. Lastly, have until the event ends on November 1 at 2 AM EDT to finish these quests.
Everything’s End Glider — complete five challenges Chrome Cage Back Bling — complete 13 quests Unmaker Pickaxe — finish all 25 quests
Other important patch notes
Custom Diagonals Keyboard Movement now available With the exception of map changes, the Fortnitemares changes are not included in competitive playlists.Reboot Cards no longer sink if the player was eliminated in water.Players are again able to see the progress of their EvoChrome weapon evolutions in competitive playlists.Moving the right stick on controller no longer unintentionally navigates menus. Fixed an issue on mobile causing water to appear as if it was floating above the ground.
