While we all wait for news regarding the next Hearthstone expansion, the Battlegrounds Lobby Legends qualifiers are still running. This last weekend we had the qualifiers for the eighth and penultimate event for 2022.
48 of the best Battlegrounds players in the world battled for the 12 spots in the Lobby Legends #8 main event happening on November 12th and 13th, after the 24.6 patch meta shake-up. Unlike previous editions, there is a surge of new blood making it to the $50,000 BG tournament.

The top 16 ladder players from the Americas, European and Asia-Pacific servers for September had to prove themselves worthy of qualifying for the main event. These 48 players competed in two stages, each of them consisting of three games, where only the top 4 from each group advanced.

After a long month of grinding ladder, the Battlegrounds Lobby Legends main event was only six games away. However, unlike ladder, in this qualifier, there is almost no room for error. One bad game can leave you out.

Throughout the year, we’ve seen mostly the same names making it to the qualifiers and main events. However, Lobby Legends #8 will see many players making their debut.
During the first stage of the qualifiers, some big names were knocked out, including some former champions. Among them, are XQN, MATSURI, ggDDummit, Ribapusa and Maks7k.
The initial 48 players were now down to 24 when we got to stage 2. Still, there were only 12 spots for Lobby Legends’ main event.

As the standings show, much new blood made it to the final event this time. On the other hand, the only champion that qualified was SeseiSei. Not only he won Battlegrounds Lobby Legends #6, but also, holds the record for most points and lobby wins in a final.
If you want to catch some of the action that happened during the qualifiers, some of the players broadcasted their PoV. So if your favorite player/streamer was there, check their channels. Additionally, PockyPlays and Cerealforme did community watch parties in English and Portuguese respectively.

What’s next?
Before we get to Lobby Legends #8 event on November 12th, Battlegrounds esports will focus on ladder one more time. The current season, ending in October, will qualify 16 players in each server for the last event in 2022. You can check out the Leader boards updated live here!
This special edition will have a $100,000 prize pool and take place on December 2nd. This event will close the 2022 Battlegrounds competitive cycle. During this first year of competitions, Hearthstone Esports granted $500,000 in prizes.
I questioned Bob about any 2023 plans, but he wouldn’t say anything. Let’s hope that part of the gold he has hoarded during this year goes to 2023 Battlegrounds esports!
