Boston Breach reveal team for 2023 CDL season heading into Modern Warfare 2

Boston Breach reveal team for 2023 CDL season heading into Modern Warfare 2

After over a week of teasing an announcement, Boston Breach finally revealed their roster for the 2023 Call of Duty League season. The team is made of Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, Joe “Owakening” Conley, Dylan “NERO” Koch and Reece “Vivid” Drost.

Breach announced their roster on Twitter on Tuesday, September 20, showing off their team for their second season in the CDL.

After a semi-successful maiden season in the Call of Duty League, there was no reason for an overhaul. A slight change to the team could end up benefitting them in the long run.

The one change they have made to the starting roster is the removal of former OpTic Gaming player Thomas “TJHaly” Haly. He’s been replaced by ex-Florida Mutineers Owakening.

Running it back with Zinni

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Breach roster this offseason was whether or not Methodz would return to the team. At one point, it was rumoured that three-time World Champions James “Clayster” Eubanks was taking his spot. He’s managed to beat out that competition.

Methodz had a fantastic start to the Vanguard season and was one of the best players in the League throughout the first half of the season. He finished the season with the 5th-highest kill/death ratio in the entire league.

The biggest criticism of Zinni was that his slaying ability didn’t translate into wins. The team ended the season with a 16-18 record and barely scraped their way into Champs.

Breach were then double-rounded at Champs. They did, however, take the eventual champions, LA Thieves, to a round 11 in the fifth map of their first series. They were undone by a three-piece from Champs MVP Kenny “Kenny” Williams.

Giving Zinni more support in the slaying department would have been a huge part of the thought process behind the change that Boston have made. Owakening coming in most certainly provides that support. Conley had the highest K/D of any member of the Florida Mutineers team last season.

Nero and Vivid running it back

Vivid and Nero are also both sticking with the Boston Breach team. Vivid didn’t really have the time to shine in his new team at the end of last season. When he came into the team, there were only two events left on the year.

Nero came into the CDL at the start of last season and was one of the better rookies all-season-long. He may not have been able to reach the heights of fellow rookie Amer “Pred” Zulbeari, but he most certainly deserves to be in the team.

It makes complete sense for both of these players to be staying with the team. The relationship and dynamic between the two was already showing at the end of last season, with Nero very complimentary of Drost after he was added to the team.

The other addition to the Breach team is European starlet Ben “Beans” McMellon joining the bench. Beans has been one of the most talked about players in the European region in the last 12 months.

Even Ian “Crimsix” Porter talked up the AR player, saying that he, alongside his fellow Englishman Elliot “WarDy” Ward, needed to be picked up by a team in the League.

🗣️ @Crimsix: “This guy almost single-handedly beat our team and we won the event.”

“Wardy and Beans, you get both of them.”

Beans will start the season with the Boston Breach Academy team. He will fill in the fourth spot in their roster alongside Doug “Censor” Martin, Sean “Seany” O’Connor and Kyle “Volants” Haworth. They will be playing in North American Challengers competitions.

Beans had a lot of success last season. He finished third at the Minnesota Open and at the Boston Open. Boston can now call Beans theirs and they are very lucky to be able to do so.
