Boston Breach, alongside OpTic Texas, is the newest team in the Call of Duty League. It has had a relatively positive season that has ended with qualification to the Call of Duty Championship tournament, but the team’s first opponent is the LA Thieves. Fresh from a dominating victory at Major IV, the LA Thieves are entering COD Champs with an undeniable sense of power and an intense desire to secure the ultimate trophy.
As one of the earliest matches in the tournament, the LA Thieves vs Boston Breach series is also one of the most highly-anticipated fixtures in the tournament. It’ll be a test for the LA Thieves, coming into the event just weeks after winning the first major Call of Duty trophy that the organisation has ever seen. For the side of Boston Breach, it’s a chance to make a statement – to deliver a message to the League that Boston is ready to become a real power player in the space.
From East to West
It’s a classic East Coast vs. West Coast battle, with these two titans meeting for the first time since the Major IV qualifying stage in June 2022. Since then, LA Thieves has gone on to beat the best teams in the Call of Duty League line-up, winning a Major, and establishing itself as a real contender for the grand prize.
Boston, on the other hand, has had a much less impressive year, especially lately, but it hasn’t been for a lack of trying. As a newly formed team, Boston has remained relatively consistent throughout the season, finishing in 6th place above the likes of Toronto Ultra, the New York Subliners, and the Florida Mutineers. At this year’s Major tournaments, Breach didn’t fare too badly, securing a fifth-place finish at Major I, and a third-place finish at Major II.
Admittedly, this is going to be a beast of a fixture, with both teams entering the fray with so much to prove. For Boston, it’s an opportunity to explode into the Call of Duty League Championship, and for LA Thieves, it’s a chance to prove that the Major IV victory wasn’t a fluke of any kind.
Great Things Ahead
Aside from a late change that saw Vivid join the roster in favour of Capsidal, the Boston Breach team has remained consistent all season. For the LA Thieves, the combination of Kenny, Drazah, Octane, and Envoy has been a solid one all through the year. This is a team that has gelled remarkably well, and as the year has pushed on, the squad’s performance has only improved. It could prove too much for Boston Breach to overcome, but as we all know, there’s always room for an upset in the League.
For instance, take the New York Subliners and the team’s last-ditch effort to make it to Champs. It was a successful push, and now the team that was at the bottom of the table all season has the ultimate opportunity to produce a remarkable upset and steal the trophy away from favourites, Atlanta FaZe.
The LA Thieves vs Boston Breach fixture will kick off on August 4th at 21:30 BST – if you’re a Call of Duty betting fan, you simply can’t miss it.
